What happens when you stop
The current run is cancelled, and the strip closes out. If the run had already finished by the time your stop reached her (a summary was already on its way), you’ll see that reflected rather than a stop that appeared to do nothing.Stopping a run is about the reply in progress, not a standing piece of work. If Abbie is partway through a step of an in-progress backlog item, that individual step can finish before the stop takes effect; the next step won’t start. If you want to permanently stop her working on a backlog item altogether, cancel the item itself rather than just the run: see Cancelling and deferring.
Stopping versus cancelling a task
These are two different controls:- Stop this run (in the chat stage strip) interrupts the reply Abbie is generating right now.
- Stop Abbie (on a backlog item, on the Backlog page or the in-chat panel) tells her to stop working on that item entirely, now and in future. See Cancelling and deferring.
