Ask Abbie to do something involved, such as draft a document, look into something, or follow up on a thread, and she doesn’t need to wrap it up in a single reply. She can keep it as an open backlog item and keep making progress on it, including after you’ve moved on to something else or closed the conversation.

What a backlog item is

Each item is a plain description of the work, with a status that reflects where it’s at: An item can also be a reminder rather than a piece of work: something Abbie will simply message you about at a given time, rather than act on. See Reminders and schedules.

Where you see it

Personal and team backlog

Every item belongs to either you personally or your whole team.

The Backlog page

The full management view of everything on the backlog.

The in-chat panel

A lighter view of the backlog, without leaving the conversation.

Cancelling and deferring

Stopping an item, or pushing a follow-up further out.
If an item is waiting on you and nobody answers for a while, Abbie can follow up on it herself. See Check-ins and follow-ups.
