# What is Abbie

> Abbie is the AI assistant built into QuivaWorks: a teammate you talk to, hand work off to, and teach over time.

Abbie is the AI assistant built into QuivaWorks. You chat with her the way you'd message a colleague, hand her things to get on with, and she keeps working on them even after you've closed the tab.

She isn't a search box or a one-off chatbot. She has a memory of who you are and how you like to work, a backlog of things she's tracking for you, and the judgement to come back and check in rather than waiting to be asked.

<Note>
  **Abbie is not the same thing as an Assistant.** [Assistants](/assistants/overview) are bots you
  build and configure yourself, each for a particular job. Abbie is the single coworker already built
  into QuivaWorks — there is one of her, everybody gets their own, and you teach her rather than
  configure her.

## A note on how this is written

Abbie is under active development. This documentation only describes what's actually in the product today. Where something is planned but not yet available, we say so plainly: see [Coming soon](/abbie/reference/coming-soon).
