# Slack

> Installing Abbie into your Slack workspace, inviting your team, and linking your own account.

Connecting Abbie to Slack means she answers where your team already talks, in channels, in threads, and in DMs, not just inside QuivaWorks.

    An account admin selects **Connect Slack** from the **Where Abbie works** card on the [Abbie home page](/abbie/getting-started/abbie-home), or from the Chat platforms section of Integrations settings, and completes the Slack authorisation.

  <Step title="Invite your team">
    Once installed, **Invite your team** (or **Add people** from settings) lets an admin bring specific people onto Abbie in that workspace.

  <Step title="Link your own account">
    Each person needs their own Slack identity linked to their QuivaWorks account, so Abbie knows who she's talking to. This can happen automatically for whoever installed the app, or via:

    * A magic link Abbie DMs you: just message **link** to her in Slack.
    * Self-service linking, which matches your QuivaWorks email against your verified Slack profile address.
    * An admin invite, if someone sets this up on your behalf.

Everyone you invite gets their own Abbie: their own conversations, their own backlog, their own rapport, the same as they would in the web chat.

## Talking to her in Slack

Message her directly in a DM, mention her in a channel, or reply in a thread she's already part of. Each thread keeps its own conversation with Abbie, matching how a session works in the web chat. Starting a new top-level message begins a new conversation, so keep replying in the thread to continue one.

## If Abbie joins a channel

When Abbie's bot is added to a channel, she'll ask for permission before reading any of that channel's recent history for context. If you say no, she simply starts fresh from that point on; nothing is read without that explicit yes.

## Managing the connection

From the **Chat platforms** section of Integrations settings, you can add another workspace, unlink your own Slack account (the app itself stays installed; this only detaches your identity from it), or invite more people. Removing Abbie from a workspace entirely is done from Slack's own app management.
